Baltimore Symphony musicians perform concert for My Sister’s Place Women’s Center 

WHAT: Baltimore Symphony Musicians Give Back: A Brass and Percussion Concert for the Community benefiting My Sister’s Place Women’s Center, Baltimore City’s longest-serving women’s day shelter, which provides three meals a day, job training, counseling and other essential services that assist women and children who are experiencing poverty and homelessness. James Ross, director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Maryland will conduct.

WHEN: Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 409 Cathedral St., Baltimore 21201

BACKGROUND: This evening concert features brass and percussion musicians from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra along with special guests from: Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera Players, National Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Semper Fi Brass. No ticket or registration needed – open seating.

Donations are welcome and benefit Catholic Charities’ My Sister’s Place Women’s Center which has been open since 1982. The comprehensive resource center offers women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty in Baltimore City essential resources.

Services include housing assistance, health care services, education, and life skills opportunities, case management, personal services and links to other community providers. Three hot meals are offered every day. In addition, the center offers Learn to Earn, a culinary and customer service internship program.
