Thanksgiving with the Children at St. Vincent’s Villa

St. Vincent’s Villa is a residential and therapeutic center for children who suffer from significant behavioral and emotional problems due to mental health issues.  It provides comprehensive therapeutic services to these children who have not responded to interventions and services provided at home or in the community. Additionally, there is also an intensive residential diagnostic and stabilization program that provides the children with a comprehensive evaluation, in partnership with the family, to determine a course of treatment that will best suit their individual situation and problems.  St. Vincent’s Villa and its services are a lifeline to parents and families that are trying to find help for their children.

This program is also one that has touched the hearts of many, including Bob Eller the Vice President of Operations for the Baltimore Ravens and Eddie Dopkin a partner of The Classic Catering People.  The Baltimore Ravens participate in many charitable events and activities with the children and personally support St. Vincent’s Villa and its work.  Sixteen years ago Bob asked Eddie to do a favor for him and the Ravens.  He asked if Classic Catering would be generous enough to host a meal for the children, staff, and volunteers that were at St. Vincent’s on Thanksgiving Day.  Since then Eddie and the Classic family have generously continued this tradition of providing a fantastic meal for those who are at St. Vincent’s Villa on Thanksgiving.  The Classic Catering team, along with a group of volunteers, set up a beautiful dining area in the gym where everyone can sit together.  They also take the time to serve all the children, staff, and volunteers there so that everyone can thoroughly enjoy their Thanksgiving meal.

St. Vincent’s Villa, the children, and staff there have not only benefited from this generosity but have also touched the lives of all those around them.  As Eddie stated “as Classic gets ready for another holiday season I can’t imagine Thanksgiving Day without our annual visit to the Center… To envision a Thanksgiving without St. Vincent’s, would only be the hope that all of their children would be able to be at a home with a family that loves and takes care of them.”

It is support from companies and individuals like Bob Eller and the Ravens and Eddie Dopkin and the Classic Catering team, that help this program to provide the children with the love, care, and affection that they need to prosper and heal.  St. Vincent’s Villa and Catholic Charities would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped to improve lives through their kindness and generosity.
