Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

As of Oct. 1, 2008, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the new name for the federal Food Stamp Program. The new name reflects the changes the USDA made to meet the needs of its clients, including a focus on nutrition and an increase in benefit amounts.  SNAP is the federal name for the program. State programs may have different names.

The USDA has a couple of videos, "Door" and "What's Important" that provide very brief introductions to SNAP. Below the links to the videos, you'll find links to more information from the USDA about how to enroll in and use the SNAP program, plus links to state hotline numbers.
