1981 - Commemorating Thirty Years - 2011 

Thirty years ago Catholic Charities commitment to provide affordable housing to older adults began at Basilica Place where residents first walked through the doors at 124 West Franklin Street to claim one of the 200 apartments and call it home, for the first time. 

To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Catholic Charities Senior Housing Communities, we are creating opportunities to Celebrate & Educate about Affordable Housing and Services for older adults.  One event is being held in each area we serve and we will conclude this special year in December with the Christmas Festival at the Basilica, benefitting the programs and services of Catholic Charities Senior Housing Communities!

Celebrate!

April 13th… Baltimore City! Where it all began, at Basilica Place. 
The Most Reverend Edwin F. O’Brian, Archbishop of Baltimore, and Bill McCarthy, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, welcomed residents and supporters from the Baltimore community in honor of our 30 years at this invitation-only event. Special guests included the Honorable Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Mayor of Baltimore City, and the Honorable Bernard C. "Jack" Young, President of the Baltimore City Council.  Visit the 30th Anniversary Celebration at Basilica Place!

July… Anne Arundel County!
An invitation-only celebration at Friendship Station in Odenton with special guest Kathleen Koch of Arundel Community Development Services, Inc.

August… Harford County! 
An invitation-only event at Abingdon Senior Housing with special guest Mr. David R. Craig, County Executive of Harford County.

September… Baltimore County!
An invitation-only celebration at Holy Korean Martyrs at Woodlawn with special guest Mr. Kevin Kamenetz, County Executive of Baltimore County.

October… Garrett County!
Traveling West to celebrate Starner Hill at an invitation-only event with special guest Mr. Gregan T. Crawford, Chair of the Garrett County Board of County Commissioners.

December… The 2011 Catholic Charities Christmas Festival at the Basilica of the Assumption, a Christmas Concert to benefit resident services at Catholic Charities Senior Housing Communities.  Learn more about the 2011 Christmas Festival!
