Our Daily Bread Celebrates 30 Years of Service

Our Daily Bread first opened its doors to feed the hungry citizens of Baltimore on June 1, 1981.
Our humble beginnings were in a store front at 17 W. Franklin Street where 54,000 meals were served that first year. Thirty years later, almost 7 million meals have faithfully been served everyday without interruption. June 1, 2011, marked our 30th anniversary and 10,958 days of uninterrupted service.
Many volunteers joined us to mark our 30th anniversary with an interfaith prayer service at the the Our Daily Bread Employment Center. The service was led by Archbishop Edwin O’Brien, followed by a reception in the Garden. Joining the Archbishop for the service were Reverend James Green of New Psalmist Baptist Church and Rabbi Andrew Busch of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. Both their congregations are long-time supporters of Our Daily Bread.
