Ravens-Steelers Wager with Catholic Bishops Can Make Our Daily Bread the Winner

ravens-steelers

Catholic Charities of Baltimore has one more reason to root for the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. It could mean a donation from the Bishop of Pittsburgh, David A. Zubick to Catholic Charities' Our Daily Bread, Baltimore's largest hot meal program.  This afternoon Bishop Zubick challenged Baltimore Archbishop Edwin F. O'Brien to a friendly wager on the Ravens-Steelers playoff game. To sweeten the pot the wager also includes a gentleman's agreement to wear the winning team's jersey and to root for them in the playoffs!

Catholic Charities Executive Director Bill McCarthy says: “Knowing that the Ravens victory means that a Pittsburgh donation can help us feed hungry Baltimoreans is great news.  We are wishing the entire Ravens team, including Ravens owner and Catholic Charities Board Member Steve Bisciotti, the best of luck on Saturday when they beat the Steelers.  Ravens fans can also celebrate our hometown team’s great season by making a donation to Our Daily Bread at www.donateCC.org

Our Daily Bread, a program of Catholic Charities of Baltimore, serves more than a quarter million meals every year to Baltimoreans in need of a hot meal. Those who are
homeless, unemployed, the working poor, men, women, and children are all welcomed.  The dining room has been open every single day since it opened in June of 1981.
