Free Summer Meals Program for Children 18 and Under
More than 50 children will be fed Monday through Friday during the summer at St. Veronica and St. Patrick Catholic Churches as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Catholic Charities received a grant from Share Our Strength to provide the eight picnic tables, a refrigerator, and stipend for the hiring of a staff person, and the Maryland Family League is delivering the meals. There are more than 1,000 meal sites throughout Maryland to feed children who relied on free and subsidized lunches during the school year.
Catholic Charities has two sites participating in the program: St. Veronica's is from 11:30-12:30 Monday - Friday, and St. Patrick's is from 2:30-3:30pm, Monday - Friday. Eighty-nine percent of children at the two Catholic Charities sites receive reduced price school lunches. Catholic Charities, through this program, is supporting the Governor's Partnership to End Childhood Hunger.
