Human Resources Jean Shacklette

Jean Shacklette, a Human Resources manager in Central Services who got her start working in the SeniorLife Services Division, celebrated her 10-year anniversary at Catholic Charities on August 1. She looks forward to attending the employee recognition event, a lunch cruise on October 1.
As the Human Resources manager for Head Start and Early Head Start, Jean coordinates the hiring of new staff, provides benefits overviews, and serves as the human resources liaison to the 120 employees who work for Child and Family Services Head Starts. In addition she ensures all staff are in compliance with state-mandated credentials and skill requirements. She is the one employees call when they have questions on policies and procedures such as short-term disability, paid time off or payroll issues.
“I enjoy being able to help our staff. It is my job to make sure our Head Start employees have the support they need so that they can do their jobs, which makes a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. I love being a part of what our Head Starts do."
Jean is a member of the Head Start Management Team and Quality Council, which gives her the opportunity to share her insight and expertise in planning and evaluating the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Most recently she was heavily involved in identifying the staffing needs for the new Early Head Start program in Carroll County. She recruited and helped to place employees in the new positions in time for the program opening.
“Jean is an outstanding Human Resources professional. Her warmth, sensitivity, and insight make her universally well-liked and respected. Everyone loves her buoyant laugh and positive outlook -- she is truly a pleasure to work with,” says Pauline Gardner-Miller, Associate Director of Human Resources.
Amy Collier, Administrator, Head Start and Early Head Start Programs adds, “Jean is a treasured gift to all of the Head Start and Early Head Start employees, we are truly grateful for the opportunity to work with her.”
