Chef Leamon Turner Aims to Please Caritas House Residents

Thanks to Chef Leamon Turner, the dining services supervisor at Caritas House, residents can now enjoy a hamburger, hot dog or grilled cheese sandwich for lunch at the assisted living facility.
"I was hearing from the residents that often they don't want a heavy meal for lunch and it would be nice if they could just get a burger or a sandwich. I thought that was a pretty reasonable request so I worked with the staff to implement a short-order grill. The residents are thrilled and it's so gratifying to give them what they want!" Chef Leamon says.
Chef Leamon supervises the dining staff at Caritas House, ensures the correct meals are delivered from St. Elizabeth's, oversees the dining services budget and fields comments from residents about the way food is prepared and their dining experience.
"Chef Leamon has brought professionalism to the dining experience. He loves what he does and making sure the residents are happy is his number one priority. He takes the time to speak with them on a regular basis, to hear how things are going, and to get their thoughts on things they would like changed," says Robin Rich, director of Caritas House.
Constantly assessing how processes might be tweaked or improved, Chef Leamon has a "can do" attitude. In addition to instituting the grill, the dining staff will soon serve soup at lunch. Currently, soup is offered at dinner but taking the residents wishes into consideration, a light soup and sandwich option will be offered at lunch time.
“If I can do anything to make meals more enjoyable for these elders then I’ll do it. Why shouldn’t they have soup as an option for lunch? I just want to make them happy,” he says.
