Jenkins Senior Living Community celebrates 80th Anniversary on September 29 with Gala

September 20, 2007-On Saturday, September 29, Catholic Charities’ Jenkins Senior Living Community will host “The Jenkins Gala” to celebrate its 80th year. The black tie optional event under a tent will be held 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the 25-acre campus, located at 3320 Benson Avenue in Baltimore. Tickets are $80. Proceeds from the event will be used to create a pavilion on the campus.

The 1920s-theme will feature vintage automobiles, jazz music, fine dining and a pictorial display that spans the history of the programs for seniors. The evolution of the senior campus began in 1927 with a bequest from Elizabeth Jenkins that established Jenkins Memorial Hospital. The Daughters of Charity were wards of the hospital with Catholic Charities taking operation in 1989.
