PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project is a HUD Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly apartment facility with 54 rent-assisted, one-bedroom apartments for older adults. The building is projected to open in Spring 2010.

The project will be located at the corner of Pratt and Kane Streets in East Baltimore and is accessible from Eastern Avenue, I-95 and I-895.  The site provides convenient access for shopping, banking, medical care, recreation, and places of worship in the immediate area.

Residents will pay rent of 30 percent of their adjusted gross income. To be eligible for residency in the facility, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 62 years of age
  • Meet HUD established income guidelines (the 2009 limit is $28,750 for one person, $32,850 for two persons)
  • Meet all established Catholic Charities and HUD requirements that apply to this project

The apartments are approximately 540 sq. ft. and will include a fully equipped kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath, a pass-through between the kitchen and dining area, carpeting, personal emergency response system for residents, wiring for cable television and telephone, tenant controlled lobby entry system and individually controlled and metered utilities. There will be community and recreational activities, support services, and office space incorporated in the design.  The building will include:

  • A multi-purpose room with a kitchen for large group activities
  • Lounges for informal activities
  • Library/Game Room
  • Laundry room and lounge to facilitate socialization
  • Computer center
