Catholic Charities Senior Housing at Abingdon To hold Dedication Ceremony on April 22

A dedication ceremony will be held at Catholic Charities Senior Housing at Abingdon on April 22 at 2:00 p.m. The senior housing property is located in eastern Harford County at 3001 St. Clair Drive in Abingdon, Maryland, near the intersection of Emmorton and Singer Roads. Catholic Charities Executive Director Harold A. Smith will host the ceremony. His Excellency Edwin F. O’Brien, Archbishop of Baltimore will provide the blessing for the dedication of this newest Catholic Charities senior housing property.
Catholic Charities Senior Housing at Abingdon has 76 rent-assisted, one bedroom apartments for older adults and is currently 100% occupied. Marks, Thomas & Associates Inc. designed the building and Harkins Builders, Inc. was the general contractor. Primary financial support for the project was provided by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Additional funding was secured through Harford County government and the Maryland Affordable Housing Trust. Catholic Charities Senior Housing at Abingdon is the 19th Catholic Charities senior housing property in Maryland. In addition to two properties in Harford County, Catholic Charities owns and manages senior communities in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and Garrett counties.
To be eligible for residency at Abingdon Senior Housing, applicants must be 62 years of age or older and have an adjusted income of no more than 50% of the median income as determined by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ($27,350 for one person as of 2/13/2008).
