Facts About Vehicle Donation

Thank you for donating your vehicle to Catholic Charities – You must have your vehicle’s certificate of ownership (the Title). You must execute the Title on the back upper top portion and designate Catholic Charities as the assignee. The car must be free of any liens before we can proceed to sale.

Tax Deduction

Catholic Charities cannot guarantee a selling price for your vehicle.  It may take up to 30 days to sell your vehicle at auction. As soon as the sale is final, you will receive an acknowledgement of the amount of the sale. Any vehicle that is sold for more than $500 will be reported to the IRS as required by law. You will be asked to furnish your social security number.

Personal Belongings

Be sure to remove all personal items from the vehicle.

License Plates

You must return the tags to MVA on/or before the date you cancel your insurance. Failure to do so will result in an Uninsured Motorist penalty. Do not remove your tags before pick up arrangements have been made with the towing company and do not return the tags to the MVA before the vehicle has been towed. Catholic Charities will not accept any responsibility for the vehicle until it is towed and in our possession or in the possession of our agents.
