Annual Leadership Campaign

On December 9th, more than 125 committed supporters gathered to celebrate the 29th annual Leadership Breakfast Campaign. What began in 1980 with dedicated volunteers raising $50,000 from 35 donors has grown into the single, largest source of private support for Catholic Charities, raising a record $2 million dollars last year.

With an increased demand in services, the funds generated by this Campaign enable Catholic Charities to meet the needs of those seeking a warm meal, employment services, shelter and much more. Tim Hodge, Chair of the 2009 Campaign said “given how difficult the past year has been for our donors, their families and businesses, the generosity of all those who supported the Leadership Breakfast Campaign this year has been in a word, astounding.”

Mr. Hodge feels that being Chair during this difficult recession was personally gratifying. “…It has been the most rewarding experience to see our donor’s generosity first hand – to see the leaders in our community called to action to do even more for those most in need of the agency's services--whether it is a hot meal, shelter for homeless men, women and children or assisting individuals in finding a job. This is exactly why I am so committed to the great work of Catholic Charities; it reinforces my faith in the good works it does each and every day.”

Tim and his committee of 35 hard working volunteers have much to be proud of – though the Campaign continues; the dedication and commitment of these volunteers will produce another record breaking year for the Campaign. The private support raised each year through the Campaign is critical to ensuring that resources are available to those with no where else to turn. Tim adds that he is looking to the future and reflecting on the importance of being committed to those in need. “This experience has made me ask myself ‘What would people, in such real need, do without Catholic Charities of Baltimore?’  It makes my commitment stronger for next year and it is my hope that we can touch even more people in the community that need our help and donors that want to help.”

On behalf of the Board, clients, volunteers and staff of Catholic Charities, our deepest gratitude is extended to all those who participate in the Leadership Breakfast Campaign. In these uncertain economic times, their selfless dedication and personal generosity provides tangible benefits in the community.
