Welcome to
Sarah's House

A referral to Sarah’s House helped to turn things around for Talashia Kelley and her children. At the shelter Talashia took advantage of childcare, the Family Literacy Program, a financial planning program, and assistance with purchasing a mini van, all of which helped her start over.
On the edge of Fort George G. Meade Army Base, Sarah’s House provides emergency shelter for as many as sixty-six people and transitional housing for twenty-two families. As a supportive housing program for homeless families, Sarah’s House is much more than just a safe place to sleep. Our goal is to effect positive change in the families we serve by providing parenting classes and workshops, employment programs, licensed childcare, counseling, and transportation, all aimed at assisting our guests to achieve independence and strengthen their families.
“I got my son into daycare at Sarah’s House and my caseworker made sure I got into parenting classes. I never knew that people could be so kind. That people would care for me and my boys. I know that the things I learned here will help me wherever I go. And most of all, I know that there are really caring people who I can turn to if I need a friend.” Julie, a Sarah’s House Guest
