There are many types of crises that can bring a woman to Anna’s House. Some have experienced domestic violence, loss of employment, or severe financial challenges. For others, chronic addiction or mental health issues have derailed their lives. Whatever the obstacle to a better life, our staff works one-on-one with each client to address her challenges. Our clients also give back to the community through volunteer projects that help to hone skills while providing a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
We provide a safe, quiet place to live so our families can sort out life’s difficulties and achieve independence with help from us such as:
- Career and life skills training
- Job placement assistance
- Case management
- Referrals to other community services in Harford County
Education, employment, and empowerment are the paths to self-sufficiency we share with our residents. Volunteers and a caring staff give of themselves daily to help our families on their journeys.
Anna’s House plays an important role in the Harford County community, and, in turn, the community is an active participant in improving the lives of the women and children of Anna’s House. The Harford County Department of Social Services, Wage Connection, Harford County Community College, and Harford County Health Department and Core Services all play a vital role in assisting the formerly homeless residents of Anna’s House become independent and self-sufficient families.
As much as we wish we could help everyone, our guest must be referred to us by county social service agencies. We cannot accept walk-ins.
