As poverty continues to spread, more and more people are finding themselves in tough financial situations and don't know where to turn for help. EarnBenefits helps those people who have fallen on tough times.

A partnership between Catholic Charities and Seedco, EarnBenefits operates in six Baltimore County parishes. The goal of the program is to help low-income individuals receive immediate assistance to meet their basic needs and to provide them with information and resources to put them on the path to economic security.

EarnBenefits helps people get the benefits that they are eligible for but not receiving such as:

• Free/low-cost health insurance
• Food stamps
• Free tax preparation/tax credits
• Home energy assistance
• Financial counseling
• Legal Assistance
• Childcare resources
• Low-cost telephone connection

In Baltimore County, call an EarnBenefits counselor for more information or an appointment at 410-261-5824. If you qualify, the counselor will work with you to help you apply or refer you directly to services and gather the required documentation. The counselor will set up an appointment to see you at one of the Baltimore County parish locations: St. Clement I, Lansdowne; St. Gabriel, Woodlawn; United Churches Assistance Center at St. Joseph, Cockeysville; St. Clare, Essex; St. Clement Mary Hofbauer, Rosedale; St. Rita, Dundalk.

In Baltimore City, Catholic Charities also offers EarnBenefits counseling at Our Daily Bread Employment Center (443-986-9012) and at My Sister's Place Women's Center (410-659-3768).
