The Social Concerns Department, which includes Parish Social Ministry, Social Concerns, and Faithful Citizens, educates parishioners, policy makers, and the broader community on issues affecting vulnerable Marylanders inspiring them to advocate for just policies and to create positive change in their own lives and communities.
Parish Social Ministry works with parishes to foster their social justice and outreach ministry, educate parishioners to serve those who are poor and vulnerable through both charity and justice, and provide opportunities for the spiritual development of individuals in this ministry. We are a resource for support, guidance, and information on a variety of topics and possibilities for your parish's social ministry.
Faithful Citizens, the advocacy network of Catholic Charities, is a quick and powerful way to better the lives of vulnerable Marylanders. Members are briefed via email on important issues affecting vulnerable Marylanders and asked to contact their public officials regarding pending legislation. Join us and make a positive impact in the lives of others!
Our Social Concerns staff brings the issues facing vulnerable people served by Catholic Charities to state policymakers and the wider community. We promote a greater understanding of social justice by sharing the stories of the people we serve and the lessons learned by our staff. We develop effective advocacy strategies in coalition with like-minded people and groups.
